Piers Morgan quits ‘Good Morning Britain’ following controversial Meghan Markle remarks

Piers Morgan has left his role at Good Morning Britain after he made a number of controversial comments about Meghan Markle.

This comes after Ofcom launched an investigation following more than 41,000 complaints from viewers following his dismissive comments made when the Duchess of Sussex admitted that she had contemplated suicide during her time in the Royal Family.

A statement released by ITV said: “Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain.

“ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add.”

Meghan’s comments were made during the eye-opening interview she and Prince Harry had with Oprah, which saw the couple open up about their experiences in the Royal Family.

A spokesperson for Buckingham Palace released a statement earlier today [March 9] saying that the issues of racism that were mentioned are “concerning” and “will be addressed”.

Piers’ numerous comments about Meghan has been faced with severe backlash from viewers, which only intensified earlier today after he stormed off the set of GMB following a heated argument with fellow presenter, Alex Beresford, after they discussed the explosive Oprah interview.

Piers is yet to address his departure from Good Morning Britain.
