Zainab Aliyu completes NYSC after she was wrongly jailed in Saudi Arabia for carrying drugs

Zainab Aliyu has just completed the mandatory one year National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, after overcoming false drug-related accusations in Saudi Arabia.

It can be recalled that she was wrongly jailed in Saudi Arabia for carrying drugs she had no knowledge of, and rescued with the intervention of President Muhammadu Buhari.

She was released after President Muhammadu Buhari ordered the immediate intervention of the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and minister of justice, Abubakar Malami in her case.

Ambassador Suleiman revealed at that time that her release was secured after an intense diplomatic engagement between the federal government and the Saudi Arabian government.

He said it took so many fruitful efforts by the federal government to establish she was innocent. He said it took several notes from the government sent to the Saudi Embassy in Abuja and its Consulate in Kano over the matter and all diplomatic channels available were used to ensure the successful release.

Shortly after Zainab Aliyu was released and returned to Nigeria, she began the mandatory 1-year NYSC exercise and has just passed out with the latest batch.

This was made known on Twitter by Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NiDCOM, who celebrated Zainab after she completed her NYSC. Sharing a picture of the Nigerian lady, she wrote;

“Remember Zainab Aliyu, wrongly jailed in Saudi for carrying drugs she had no knowledge of, and rescued with the intervention of ?@MBuhari? She just completed her NYSC. We wish Zainab the best as she moves on to great success in life ?@Hajarahhh.”
