DOUBLE LIFE

Cheating wife exposed after ‘DNA test reveals her TWINS have different dads after secret one-night stand leaving her husband devastated’

‘One-in-a-million’ case was reported by city authorities who registered the births in China

A CHEATING mum’s affair was exposed when DNA tests showed her twins had different dads, according to reports.

One child was her husband’s but the other was fathered by her secret lover in a “one-in-a-million” double pregnancy.

The Jeremy Kyle-style bombshell came to light when the mother requested a paternity test so she could register the twin boys with authorities in Xiamen, China.

Shock results showed one boy was not related to the man who had assumed he was father of both.

According to Xiamen-based newspaper Strait Herald, the father had long wondered why his twins did not look alike.

One child had different eyes, mouth and nose and did not resemble him in any way.

But he never considered the possibility he was not the boy’s natural father.

The paternity test – a routine part of the city’s legal process – reportedly caused a rift between the couple as the wife accusing her husband of tampering with the results.

However, she eventually confessed she had had a one-night stand with another man.

The dad was quoted as saying: “I obviously still want my own child, but I’m unwilling to raise someone else’s.”

Doctors said it was a rare case of “heteropaternal superfecundation” when two or more eggs released in the same cycle are fertilised by sperm from different fathers.

She would had to have had sex with both men within a few days at most.

The unusual case was made public by the Fujian Zhengtai Judicial Authentication Center in Xiamen.

Director Ms Zhang said: “This is a very special case.

“It means that the woman had sexual relations with two men – and was impregnated by them at the same time.”

She added: “They’re fraternal twins. A very uncommon and rare case.”

Chinese social media was awash with theories and predictions about the family’s future.

One user said: “That’s a great plot for a movie.”

Ms Zhang said the couple had “sorted the matter out themselves”.

How this happened

Reproductive scientist Michael Carroll says:

Females will have multiple matings with multiple males and this increases the chance of them producing multiple offspring.

Heteropaternal superfecundation is rare in humans but common in cats, dogs and cattle.

In 1982, a medical journal reported the case of twins born with different skin colours who turned out to have different fathers.

And in 2016, surrogate mum Jessica Allen gave birth two totally unrelated children – one from an implanted IVF embryo, and one conceived naturally with her husband.
