US Prison Guard, Who Broke Her Lover Out Of Jail, Shot Herself During Arrest
A female prison guard who went on the run with a murder suspect has died after shooting herself when the couple were caught.
Vicky White, 58, has died in hospital after being arrested alongside Casey White (no relation) in Indiana following a police chase.
The pair are believed to have been romantically involved. They were last seen in Lauderdale County on the 29th of April.
Casey White was awaiting trial on a capital murder case. He was serving a 75-year sentence for a variety of different crimes, including attempted murder, robbery and burglary.
Mr White disappeared after Ms White transported him to a bogus mental health evaluation. CCTV footage shows Ms White escorting the convict into her police car.
This was during her last day at work before her retirement. According to reports Ms White had recently sod her house and informed her colleagues that she was going to spend her time at the beach.
On Monday, officers learned that the couple were still in the local area. After discovering the pair they would flee in a vehicle.
In an effort to end the pursuit, officers collided with the vehicle. While Casey White was injured in the crash, he was not seriously harmed. However, Vicky White proceeded to shoot herself which caused “very serious” injuries. She would later die in hospital.
Her death has only caused more speculation as to why she would drop everything to help free an inmate with a violent history just before her retirement.
Before her death, Sheriff Rick Singleton said: “She ha some answers to give us.
“What in the world provoked her, prompted her to pull a stunt like this, I don’t know. I don’t know if we’ll ever know.”
Chris Connolly, the District Attorney for Lauderdale County, informed reporters that: “I would have trusted Vicky with my life. I really mean it.
“If we needed something from the jail, she was our go-to person, solid employee. That’s why it’s so shocking.”
