Madagascar COVID-19 cure rejected for being African – President

Madagascar has just recorded its first coronavirus death, as the world continues to battle the worst pandemic in recent memory.

According to Reuters, the first coronavirus death in Madagascar is a 57-year-old medical worker who was also battling with diabetes and high blood pressure as underlying health issues.

This is coming after the country reportedly developed an acclaimed herbal mixture cure for the dangerous virus.

This was confirmed by the spokesman of the COVID-19 task force in the country, Hanta Danielle Vololontiana.

Volontiana said; “A man died from COVID-19 in Madagascar … he is 57 years old and a member of the medical staff.”

Malagasy President Andry Rajoelina had been in the news since April when his country launched an indigenous herbal remedy named COVID-Organics, which he said could “cure” COVID-19.

The beverage, developed by the Malagasy Institute of Applied Research, was produced from Artemisia, a plant with a proven antidote against malaria.

“All trials and tests have been conducted,” President Rajoelina said in April, “and its effectiveness in reducing the elimination of symptoms has been proven for the treatment of patients with COVID-19 in Madagascar.”

Tanzania, Liberia, Equatorial Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau, have since either placed orders for, or have received consignments of, the medication.
